Welcome to Our Wedding Site!

This is the Story of Us

Our story actually begins about 17 years ago…

When we were young and in middle school, my family used to go to a lake resort every holiday weekend for some family fun. While we were there one weekend we met the kids of the resort owners, the Chambless’, and immediately formed new friendships. Little did I know that boy I met at the lake would turn out to be the love of my life and future husband!

After meeting the kids that summer we found out that they were moving to Round Rock and that we would all be going to the same high school. Michael was the first boy I ever dated our freshmen year in high school and the first boy I ever kissed.

That first relationship lasted only a few months though and we went our separate ways. I went to college in Birmingham Alabama and Michael stayed in Austin to attend UT. We remained good friends throughout college and would visit with each other over the Christmas holidays and summer breaks.

After graduating from Samford University and working for a few years in Birmingham, I moved back to Austin (because, let’s face it, Birmingham doesn’t hold a candle to Austin!). I reconnected with Michael a few years after being back and we have been together ever since!

He was the first boy, and will be the last man I ever kiss :)

The Proposal

Michael did a really good job!

His 30th birthday was that weekend so I had been planning a surprise birthday party for him. I had been stressing out about the party for about 2 weeks trying to get everything organized and perfect!

Michael wanted some relaxing time during the day, and the weather was beautiful, so before the party him and I went to our local neighborhood park. We brought some lawn chairs and a bottle of wine and just sat in the park talking for a couple of hours.

Our conversation turned in the direction of families and I asked him if he had talked to Brooke, his daughter, about the possibility of us being a family and he said “yes”. I asked him what she said and he stood up and got on one knee and said “she told me to give you this”. He held out the ring and asked if I would marry him :). Of course I said yes through a face full of tears!

After I had a chance to compose myself, he told me he already knew I was planning a surprise birthday party for him but told me it was actually a surprise engagement party for us!! He duped me! (but in a good way).
